I honestly can’t believe so many months have passed since I left this blog to collect dust. Seems only yesterday I was writing about patch 4.1. Between juggling officer duties, recruiting and trying hard to keep things together on the real life front (which is unfortunately more unstable than a 25 man raid connection), I’ve also begun to take on PVP.
Ahhh PVP. How you’ve tormented me so. The days of being ganked by Alliance and feeling no way to retaliate. When the new rated battleground mounts came out, I got annoyed that they were beyond my skill reach. Then stopped and decided I would get it somehow.
I farmed the gears through battlegrounds and my feverish grind attracted a bit of attention from the guild; we’re primarily a PVE guild, but many of the old-time raiders PVPed at some point. This was an opportunity for them to hop back in with some communal support. Even managed to get a guild rated battleground together!
Still, the greatest satisfaction came from a single incident. I was at the Molten Front doing my dailies at the underground cavern unlocked by the Druids of the Talon. My hostile player detector warned me of an Alliance druid somewhere in the vicinity, so I switched to my PVP gears and hybrid spec, went into bear form and went to get my quest at the NPC.
Sure enough I was ambushed by a Night Elf druid from the most notorious Alliance PVP guild.
The fight lasted 10 minutes.
I won with half my life intact. And danced over his corpse.
This–my friends–is the greatest victory for me in PVP.
